July 22, 2008 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Marlene Griggs at 10:00 a.m.

GUESTS:  There were no guests at this meeting.

The membership sang “Happy Birthday” to Marsha Austin-Rogers.  Thanks were extended to Lori Lehman for the lovely June luncheon, and thanks to Debi Cerone for the beautiful decorations and table favors.

DOOR PRIZE:  Jeannie Jesse won a darling tray with food items.

CLUB PROJECT:  Members broke into two groups led by volunteer coordinators Gloria Osborn (Thanksgiving scene) and Leslie Hopwood (Beach scene).  Brain-storming ensued with lots of ideas regarding the planning of the project.

At 11:00 a.m. we broke for coffee and cookies

SHOW AND TELL was conducted by Jeannie Jesse.  Israela Manson shared some wonderful pieces she had purchased and Marsha Austin-Rogers shared her raffle winnings from the June luncheon and her gift exchange.

The May and June minutes were accepted as submitted.  Motion was made by Lori Lehman and seconded by Karin Richter-Rusin.

Congratulations were extended to Gloria Osborn for her receipt of the Member of The Year award at the luncheon.  Jackie Burton and Sonia Johnson were thanked for their many years of service to the club.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Treasurer Lori Lehman presented the treasurer's report.  Lori reported that some dues are past due and that N.A.M.E. dues are also due.

OLD BUSINESS:  First Vice President Jeannie Jesse passed out the new By-Laws and Standing Rules.  She also circulated a new club roster for members to make corrections on, in Buff Greaney’s absence.

STATE DAY:  The next meeting will be on the first Tuesday of the month at the home of Lynne Raudaskoski.

2009 SHOW AND SALE:  Show Chairman Gloria Osborn reports that the contracts for the show are ready to be mailed out.

NEW BUSINESS:  Lori passed out copies of the club’s 2008-2009’s Budget.  A motion was made by Karin Richter-Rusin to accept the Budget and the motion was seconded by Jeannie Jesse.  Motion carried.

Congratulations to Mrs. Broadhurst on the event of her 100^th birthday!  Gloria shared family group portraits taken at the birthday party.

President Marlene Griggs was presented with a check for $75.00 in appreciation for her work in the past year as club President.

Marlene announced the following assignments:  Marion Stacey remains as Librarian, Betty Hayward as Historian, Jackie Burton as Allied Gardens Liaison, Trudy Rogers as Newsletter distributor, Sonia Johnson as Hospitality Chairman, Buff Greaney as Christmas Party Coordinator, Lori Lehman as June Luncheon Coordinator and Virginia Ross as Auditor.

Gloria Osborn made a motion to purchase the room boxes for the club project.  Motion was seconded by Karin Richter-Rusin.  Motion carried.

RAFFLE:  The raffle was won by Lynne Raudaskoski!  For her beach cottage: a hammock and a charcoal grill, complete with hot coals.

The meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m.
