Minutes of Meeting 26 February 2008

The meeting was called to order by the president at 10:00 A.M.

Guest:  Sherri Curry, Ann Shuman’s daughter.

Door prize was won by Margaret Gaines—a spaghetti dinner with wine, etc.

Project:  A wishing well planter. Each member received a kit complete with all the parts and a photo of the completed project.

Project Chairman Michelle Barnhart has requested that as of the end of the club year, June 30, she no longer be Project Chairman. She will be responsible for the March and April projects which are the remaining two before June 30.

With the completion of the library project, the idea of a garage project was brought up—price and availability are being initiated.

Show and Tell: Members’ purchases from the Club’s Show, February 1 and 2, 2008.

Secretary’s Minutes: It was explained that the January minutes that were E-mailed and mailed required a correction and an additional paragraph.

The January minutes were accepted with the above-mentioned correction and addition.

Correspondence:  A thank you letter is being sent to Audrey Bagby who donated a dollhouse to be the Opportunity Drawing at the SDMC Show 2009.

Show Report:  Chairman, Gloria Osborn, read a comprehensive report on the 2008 Show, a copy of which is attached for the Secretary’s file. Attendance:  308 on Saturday, 70 on Sunday and 31 returns.

The Show Treasurer’s report was read for membership information.

Motion was made by Gloria Osborn to donate the proceeds from the  Kids’ table sales together with money from the Education Outreach fund to total $200.00 to School Bell. Motion passed.

State Day: 27 September 2008, Ramada Inn located next to Al Bahr Shrine Center, $65.00 for the day, including lunch. Theme:  Pirates Hideaway.

Bylaws Review Committee:  It was requested that any suggestions be given to Jeannie Jesse, Chairman.

Raffle—won by Bobbi Allen—a bench with an intricately woven seat and a cat.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:05 P.M.
