San Diego Miniature Crafters 28 October, 2008 Meeting Minutes The meeting was called to order by President Marlene Griggs at 10:00 a.m. GUESTS: Valerie Hearst, our former member, was a guest at this meeting. DOOR PRIZE: The door prize was won by Betty Hayward, an autumn basket. We broke into our Beach House and Thanksgiving scene groups, led by project chairs Buff, Leslie and Gloria. We took a break for coffee and cookies, then resumed the business meeting. The minutes for September were approved as received. The motion was made for approval by Marsha Austin-Rogers, and seconded by Betty Hayward. TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Lori Lehman gave the treasurer's report. OLD BUSINESS: Buff Greaney distributed the new rosters. The club project is progressing nicely, but remember if you volunteered to put together a kit, let your project leader know when you’re bringing it. SHOW REPORT: Chairman Gloria Osborn reports that the next Show meeting will be on November 12. So far, 41 tables have been sold. Think about what exhibits you want to bring . There will even be an area called “Under Construction”, and we ALL have one of those. Be sure to sign up for your required four hours of work at the show. STATE DAY: All the pirates (and skalawags) reported a successful and fun day. CHRISTMAS PARTY: Buff will have the sign-up sheet for food items at the November meeting for our annual holiday party on December 16. We will have the miniature gift exchange (miniatures, please). The gift is to be 1” scale miniature of a value between $15 and $20 and another gift exchange just for fun of an item for $2-3. Let’s everyone participate in this one! NEW BUSINESS: Totebag favors and doorprizes are needed for the National ’09 in Indianapolis. RAFFLE: The raffle was won by the lucky Betty Hayward! September 23, 2008 - Meeting Minutes The meeting was brought to order at 10:00 a.m. by President Marlene Griggs. GUESTS: Our guest at this meeting was Adam (Jeannie Jesse’s grandson). DOOR PRIZE: The door prize was won by Trudy Rogers, a darling fishing pole, complete with a string of fish. Audrey Potterton brought a poster of items she’d like to sell from her personal collection. She has also signed up for a sales table at our annual Show & Sale. At 10:07 we began work on our club projects, the beach house and the Thanksgiving scene. We then broke for refreshments. At 11:45 we returned to resume our business meeting. OLD BUSINESS: Lorraine Vaught sends her hello via e-mail, as do Carl and Penny Newton. The minutes were accepted as received. Lori Lehman made the motion to accept and Gloria Osborn seconded the motion. TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Lori Lehman gave the treasurer's report. CORRESPONDENCE: Corresponding Secretary Debi Cerone reports that there has been no new correspondence. Buff Greaney reports that the new roster is forthcoming. Librarian Marion Stacy reminded the members to check books out! Carlos from Allied Gardens was presented with a check from SD Miniature Crafters, for his help and kindness to our club. PROJECT CHAIRMAN Buff Greaney reports that our projects are moving along, but that members who signed up to teach classes to the groups should come forward with their contribution to the effort. SHOW REPORT: President Marlene Griggs made a brief review of our By-Laws and Standing Rules, with special attention to the members’ responsibilities regarding the annual show. Each member must contribute four hours. Members are asked to donate nice items to the Kid’s Only table. The Kid’s Project will be a cabinet, which members are asked to donate items for, to fill up the shelves. Jeannie Jesse has volunteered to be the Show Chair for 2010. Lynne Raudaskoski (Dealer table chair) reports that tables are filling nicely. Leslie Hopwood has sent an invitation to John Wilkins to our 2009 Show and Sale. STATE DAY: Pirate’s Hideaway will take place this Saturday, with a few spaces available. Some participants brought in their finished caves to share. CHRISTMAS PARTY: Buff states that the annual holiday pot-luck party will take place on the third Tuesday in December, December 16th NEW BUSINESS: Nominating Committee shall be: Jackie Burton, Betty Hayward, Ann Wheelock, and alternate Marsha Austin-Rogers. No nominations were volunteered from the floor. Lori Lehman made a motion to approve the slate and Karin Richter-Rusin seconded the motion. Show and Tell was conducted by Marsha Austin Rogers. The theme was dolls and we enjoyed a history of the ones brought in by Virginia Ross and Margaret Gaines. RAFFLE: The raffle was won by Marsha Austin Rogers, a rat-infested chaise. San Diego Miniature Crafters August 26, 2008 Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by President Marlene Griggs at 10:05. GUESTS: Adeline Dodd’s sister-in-law Sandy was our guest today.DOOR PRIZE: The door prize was won by Adeline Dodd—a set of picnic items. (for a beach house?)WORK ON CLUB PROJECT: Leslie Hopwood demonstrated how our club project roombox will be assembled. The meeting was turned over to our project chairs and we broke into beach house and Thanksgiving roombox groups.At 11:20 we broke for coffee and cookies. The business meeting resumed at 11:45. SHOW AND TELL: was conducted by Jeannie Jesse.MINUTES: Gloria Osborn made a motion to accept the July minutes as received. The motion was seconded by Adeline DoddTREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Lori Lehman is out of town, but the report was given by Marlene Griggs. The audit was conducted by Virginia Ross, who finds the books to be in good order.OLD BUSINESS: National Convention Report—Jackie Hoefert shared her experiences from the National Convention. She showed photos and submitted an official report. Our club was one of 76 clubs who received a Blue Ribbon Award. Buff also passed out individual blue ribbons to our membership. Marlene Griggs gave additions from National for the project manual.
State Day- The next meeting for State Day “Pirate’s Hideaway” will be on Tuesday, September 2nd at the home of Gloria Osborn. The Show and Sale meeting will immediately follow. Philanthropy- Israela Manson, philanthropy chairman, is thinking about an additional project. New rosters are being worked on by Buff Greaney. NEW BUSINESS: There was discussion about a communication from our new Region N1 Coordinator, Janet Smith. Her communication, “Small Talk” was sent via e-mail and some members were not able to open it. Please let her know if you couldn’t open it.October is Dollhouse month! It is a good time to display our tiny treasures at libraries. Holiday Party- Buff has reserved our room at Allied Gardens on December 16th. Jeannie Jesse shared an e-mail she received from Pat Breiner, requesting tote bag favors for a houseparty. Debbie Young is going to conduct a class for a ¼” English cottage the day after our Annual Show and Sale. Buff suggested we get our floor installed on our project before the next meeting.
