THE SHOW COMMITTEE:
reminds everyone to be ready to commit to work four hours for the
Show. Gloria will have the sign-up board at the meeting...be first to get
your favorite spot!
'Under Construction' will
be a select group of unfinished, yet recognizable projects. While we all
have many of these we may have to limit the number displayed. This entry
must include a note telling about the work in progress. Pirates' Hideaway
are all State Day pirate caves. Food Court is a project with a food theme,
perhaps a kitchen or a store, even a cafe or.... Naturally we are always
excited to exhibit all work in general-displays do not have to fit into
any of these
CLUB PROJECT:
Be ready to work this month! Beach Bums, the porch is ready to go so Jeannie will be showing us how to put our posts and rail together. Bring your tool box and paint for the porch. HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES in December go out to: Herta Forster (16) and Penny Newton (31). See you at the meeting, Trudy
OCTOBER MEETING The next meeting of the San Diego Miniature Crafters is on Tuesday October 28, 2008 at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center. We can go in the building when it opens after 9:30 am. SHOW AND TELL: Jeannie would like everyone to bring in one or two favorite pieces and tell us what is so special about them. CLUB PROJECT: Thanksgiving group: You should bring toolbox, glue, and stain. Gloria has a small kit for everyone to make. You should have your wall in place, painted, or wall papered to your liking; also your door painted or stained. Floor should be glued down and stained—Leslie has a special glue for attaching your window to the plastic. Beach Bums: You should know where your front wall is going and it should be covered on both the outside and inside. Hopefully, your floors are finished also. The screen door is finished and can be installed. The window is similar; we’ll get everyone caught up. Jeannie is working hard on the railing for the front porch…soon the house will be on its pillars ready for the tide to come in! Everyone: Everyone has been asked to think about how to contribute to their group’s project. Come prepared to tell us about kits you are prepared to ‘teach’ how to make. Use your imaginations! The uniqueness of this project is the participation of the entire group. Hint…if you are thinking potato chips for snacking, start saving the seeds from green (yellow and orange too) peppers. After rinsing and drying you’ll have enough chips to fill a bowl or serve with a sandwich. Publicity for February Show: Leslie is working on creating publicity for our February show. If you have a personal contact with any of the San Diego news outlets or community papers, please consider sharing the name and information with her. She will be certain to reference you in making an introduction. Show information has already been submitted to the miniature publications by Buff; Leslie is trying to expand local public coverage to boost our show attendance and interest in our craft. Happy Birthday wishes in November go out to: Joanne Gooden (17), Sonia Johnson (23) and Israela Manson (2). See you at the meeting, Trudy

San Diego Miniature Crafters Club Project
The votes are in and tallied! We will be working on a homey Thanksgiving and a Beach House. We are excited about the possibilities and the adaptations that can be made to personalize each...just think, if your first choice was 4th of July, the Beach House can easily celebrate our nation’s birthday, or for that matter anyone’s birthday!
Our upcoming club meeting will serve as our first planning meeting. Bring your basic tool box, paper and pencil, along with a copy of any “how-to” instructions you may have been saving for just the right Beach House or Thanksgiving scene. We will break into a Beach Group and Thanksgiving Group to begin our day dreaming and brain storming.
If you did not yet choose your project, or if you did not get your first, second or third choice, you will be able to decide this day. We are looking forward to incorporating everyone’s ideas and talents into this project.

So bring your change and $$$! Also, dig through those boxes, drawers, shelves, closets, the garage or wherever and gather up and price the miniatures you’d like to make available for sale. The more items the better!
With deepest sympathy our hearts go out to Jeannie Napolitano and family over the death of her husband Mike. A Memorial Service was planned for May 17th at the Lutheran Church in Coronado to be followed by a reception at the family home.
